I have an ‘06 RAV4 and I recently installed a Hidden Hitch trailer hitch so that I could use a 20×48" cargo carrier for our summer vacation. But the cargo carrier scrapes on the ground when backing out of our driveway or pulling into parking lots where there is a transition from level ground to an incline. Also, I picked up a bike rack, and this too scrapes on the ground, although not as bad as the cargo carrier. I’d say the carrier has only about 6" clearance when loaded with four beach chairs and a canvas duffel bag loaded with some beach blankets, shoes, etc. (i.e. a light load).
Is there an adapter I could use to get more height out of the trailer hitch receiver? I’ve seen these 4" hi-low drops that look like they’d do the job but the description of their use doesn’t sound like what I need.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I recently had a hitch intstalled on my car for my bike rack. However, I’m having a tough time deciding if I want to install the wiring harness for trailer lights, just in case I ever decide to tow anything.
I will primarily use the hitch for the bike rack. But, it’s not inconceivable that I may be inclined to tow a small trailer occasionally if I had the wiring harness.
However, my car does not have the connector that you can use to plug the harness into. So, it would require splicing directly into my car’s wiring. Since the car is still under warranty, I don’t like the sound of that very much. I don’t want someone messing with the electical system if they could accidently mess it up somehow.

I’m trying to do this without spending lots of money. I have a 98 honda civic.
The obvious (and expensive) answers are to get a hitch mount installed (like 0 or more) and buy a real motorcycle carrier thing (probably like 0 or more, I don’t know) OR get the hitch mount and a trailer (probably like 0 or 0).
My idea is to get a roof-mount bike rack, and just strap it down like a normal bike. I figure that a back mount bike rack wouldn’t be strong enough to hold the weight. Do you think that would work?
Has anyone done this or have any good ideas? Thanks so much!

This won’t be a one time thing, so I need something that makes sense. I though about hooking up a small trailer to my car, but that may not be reasonable. I have an ‘89 Toyota Corolla. I am looking for any ideas on how to haul it without a trailer possibly. Is there some type of bike rack that would hold it? Any ideas?

I’m wanting to make sure that I will be able to find a trailer hitch for the 2007 Honda Civic. I can’t find anyone who has one for the 2007 model. Have any of you been able to find a trailer hitch for this car? I’ll be using it for a bike rack.

I have been trying to put on a bike rack on my Eckhart trailer hitch receiver for my 93 Mercury Villager. I had the hitch put on 6 years ago to tow a tent trailer, which I have since sold. So now I would really love a bike rack, but they come in two standard sizes, and the 1.25 is too small for my receiver and the 2 inch is too big, so I measured the inside of my square receiver hitch and it is 1.64 inches. I have no idea what to do now
